Incident Entry
Call events may be started in a multitude of ways including a single mouse click to enter ANI/ALI information. E911 information fills both incident location and caller location for speed and completeness. Incident location can be quickly changed while preserving the caller information. There are special complaint masks for traffic stops and miscellaneous officer initiated events to quickly and easily capture vehicle and person information. New calls can even be entered from the command line. Command line supports field identifiers rather than positional arguments. We feel that while positional arguments require fewer keystrokes it is much more prone to error.
Emergency calls can be added to the system quickly. They only require incident location and complaint type to save the call. To make it even faster, the agency may set a default complaint type and then only incident location is required to start an emergency call. Additional information can be added as it is gathered. The CAD call event can be updated an unlimited number of times. The dispatcher is notified each time an update is made. To make it easy to see when a new call is added to the system, each added CAD call event is displayed in a red notification bar to alert the dispatcher of all new calls added.
Complaint type controls event priority. This is user definable but may be changed on the call event by the call taker or the dispatcher.
The CAD system tracks chronological event history for all actions taken on the call. It also tracks chronological unit history for all unit actions whether on or off a call event. Both record date and time and operator ID as well as the details of the transaction. A complete audit trail is also created for all changes made to the call event.
Enhanced 9-1-1
Publisafe CAD interfaces to ANI/ALI. We provide a one-button transfer of all ANI/ALI data to complaint screen to make data entry fast and efficient. The dispatcher can override the incident location quickly while retaining the original caller location.
Telecommunications Device for the Deaf
The Publisafe CAD provides fully integrated TDD functionality and supports the use of the CAD workstation for communication with the sender. CAD captures all text in the transmission.
Locations
Location determination can be done by street address, common name, intersection, mile marker, or other identifying factors such as alarm number or other location code. Supporting data for location can include geo special notes, and internal ALI information such as hazards, HAZMAT, medical, contact, or directions. Bad ANI/ALI information can be flagged for management reporting as well as all addresses where geo-validation was overridden. CAD provides functionality for automatically searching for active warrants.
Canceling CAD Call Event
CAD supports the cancellation of a CAD call event with a reason stored in the call. You can also determine an associated disposition for canceled calls. The agency determines if one or more dispositions are required to clear a call, and all dispositions are user defined. Once a CAD call event is closed, it may be reopened either with the previously assigned units or as a new call.
Copy Call
CAD calls may be copied. The dispatcher may optionally select a call and then press a copy button. All information about the call is automatically transferred to a New Call window. The dispatcher can change or add information to complete the replicated call.
Case Numbers
Case numbers for each individual agency may be assigned to a call event. These may be assigned at any time by the call taker, the dispatcher, or officer in the field. Calls may have more than one case number. Case numbers assigned to a call may be voided if assigned in error.
CAD Supplemental Information
CAD call event supplemental information includes persons, vehicles, tows, contact information, medical information, images, preplans, and cross reference numbers. A color indicator lets the dispatcher know when such information is available. Duplicate events are based on address when a new call is saved. Call taker can choose to merge the duplicate calls or not merge them. All information, including call event number and comments, is saved and added to the existing call. The merged call is saved to Historical Calls. The dispatcher has the option to merge two or more calls regardless of location at any time if it appears that the calls are the same incident.
Holding Calls
A call taker can set aside or hold an incomplete CAD call event in order to enter a more serious one. More than one CAD call event may be set aside. The system indicates the number of set aside CAD call events at all times to remind the call taker of calls on hold. To retrieve a call on hold, the call taker can chose from a list, which displays set aside CAD call events to complete.
All Calls Display Window
Calls are displayed in an All Calls window. Events can be filtered as active, pending, or all calls. Pending calls are always at the top of the All Calls list. The order on the list and the colors in which they appear is user definable based parameters such as priority or agency.
Unit Recommendation
Publisafe CAD unit recommendation logic uses a combination of location, unit status, and complaint type. Complaint type controls priority and agency type as well as what tasks are required to meet the needs of the complaint types. Recommendation logic matches tasks required by the complaint type with unit tasks available. Units indicate assigned area and availability status. Taken together, these factors equal the closest, most appropriate unit, from the correct agencies for the type of complaint. Dispatchers can use one keystroke to dispatch all recommended units or can select the units they wish to send. Publisafe CAD supports location specific recommendations to ensure the proper response to schools, hospitals, etc. Support is also provided for response lists that we refer to as task lists. Alarm levels can be increments to recommend the next appropriate set of units as defined by the agency for the location. "Either / Or" response system is supported.
All Units Window
The CAD system has an All Units window at each workstation that shows those units assigned to that workstation. Approximately 30 types of associated information may be displayed for each unit including unit number, event number, unit type, unit status, location, event type and time since last status change. The CAD system also displays mobile data status, officer ID, and last unit log entry. A dispatcher can see other units not specifically assigned to the workstation on demand. Unit status is displayed graphically making is easy to see the status of each unit on the monitor. The units can be sorted on various fields.
User Definable Status Codes
Publisafe CAD system support user definable status codes such as "In Court". The system has default timers based on complaint type or the dispatcher can set a timer for any unit regardless of status. If a unit exceeds a status timer the dispatcher receives a visual alert and can be reset or cancelled. Also, all unit status changes are stamped with operator ID, date and time and are logged to both the call history and the unit history.
